Have You Not Heard?
Isaiah
40:28
“Have
you not known?
Have
you not heard?
The
everlasting God, The Lord
The
Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither
faints nor is weary.
His
understanding is unsearchable”
I
like this verse because it reminds me just how big God is. A
reoccurring theme for me has been seeing God’s greatness.
Everywhere I look I see giant problems that we have created, so much
sin and destruction that the devil has wrought. Then; however, I am
reminded that God is bigger than all of this. He doesn’t look at
this world and all it’s problems and think “oh well guess they’ve
gone too far” No! He looks at us and He sees the people He created.
The blue eyes, the brown hair the carefully crafted hearts and minds
He put in each one of us. He sees how much He loves us and His heart
breaks for us and the paths we choose to follow. His love is
limitless, never ending, pure, holy, and without fault. God cares so
much for us that even when we fail and fall off the path He looks at
us with love in His eyes. He says sweetly “My love, have I not
formed the universe with my breath? Have I not created every single
atom in your body? If I have done these things, yet I say they are
nothing compared to the value of your heart, do you not think I will
move heaven and earth, if necessary, to pick you up in my arms and
carry you back into my fold?” His understanding is unsearchable, no
one can know what the Lord is thinking, or what He is doing but we do
know it is for good that He does anything, we know He loves us with
wave after wave of renewed, pure love. Isaiah has a good point when
he says “Have you not known? Have you not heard?” It is
imperative that we both hear and know the goodness of God. Without
this knowledge we lose our way, we get lost in a sea of confusion and
doubt. We wonder if God really is who He says He is. We begin to
listen to the whispered lies of the devil, telling us we are sinners
of the highest degree, not worthy of anything other than death
eternally. God loves us more than anything else He has created, and
so has given us the ability and freedom to make out own decisions, He
longs for us to choose to seek Him, but He never wanted robots who
serve Him blindly so when we choose to go our own way He patiently
waits for us to turn back to Him. He never leaves us even in our
darkest, most sinful hour He was and is right there waiting waiting
for us to turn back to Him. Sometimes with many tears of repentance,
so that He may carry us home in His loving arms. The Lord God neither
faints nor is weary, He will do anything for the children He loves to
be brought near to Himself.
