Every Good Gift


James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.


This is one of my favorites verses, when I was little I memorized this whole book. Sadly I couldn't recite it from memory anymore but ever since then I have really loved this reminder that I don't serve an unjust God. This reminder that my God really does want to bless me and that every good thing is from Him. The Father of lights, in whom is no darkness. My Lord who never changes like shifting shadows but is constant yesterday, today, and forever! He is constantly looking to bless and give grace, I find comfort knowing that these two attributes of God will never change. No matter what is going on God is constant in the storm, He will never leave and He will never forsake the ones He loves. In my life I have had a hard time believing this, especially when God seemed very far away. At other times I've had no trouble believing because He felt so close. According to this verse God never changes, as I I've already stated, so what was the difference? God promises that He is always with me so what happened He felt so far away? My answer is this (Romans 5:8) while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. The difference was me, when I went my own way I didn’t feel God’s presence when I chose my own path He felt far away. When I chose to let the worries of life weigh me down instead of looking to my Father in Heaven He seems to stand far off, but this isn’t the truth, the truth is my Lord is standing right beside me at all times. However, he is a gentlemen so He does not force His will upon any of His children. He still there when I don’t acknowledge Him waiting for me to turn to Him so He can life me up in His arms.

Whoever Finds His Life...

Matthew 10:39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. As we prepare to leave Cambodia I was struck by this verse. When I got here I was expecting to run hard and to do everything I could in my own strength to bring glory to a God I barely knew. This season has been the complete opposite. I have had to sit still and let God walk before me. I have literally had to die to myself and my ideas, everything I thought this time would be. I've had to daily lay down my pride and anything that wreaks of me; I have had to ask God to stand in my place. Before Ignite I thought I had found my life only to realize I had completely lost it. Now Faith

Now Faith is the assurance of things hoped for the conviction of things not seen Hebrews 11:1 ESV “Now faith”, that in itself is such a strong statement. It means that faith is now . That there is no waiting for faith. The verse goes on to say how faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. In the New King James Version the word “assurance” is replaced by the word “substance”, read this way faith is not only an idea, it is also tangible to us right now. It is so important to understand that faith was never meant to be blind, it is meant to be very clearly known. God wants me to know that my faith is not in vain. I am assured my hopes will come true if they are in accordance with the word of God.
