Behold the Lamb of God!


John 1:36
“And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, ‘Behold the Lamb of God!’”

I can’t imagine what it must have been like for John to suddenly realize that the long awaited Son of God was walking before him. I would have kicked myself for not seeing Him sooner. Jesus wants to reveal Himself to us today too; however, many people never see Him. Many walk through their whole lives without ever acknowledging God. Recently one of my teammates asked me what I had seen God do that day. It was a casual question, but we both realized that neither of us had noticed anything that stuck out to us. This really began to bother me, not that God hadn’t done anything, for I know He does, but that I hadn’t seen it. We both decided that we should make a concerted effort to ask God to show us how He works each day and to thank Him for every great thing He has done.
Application
I will get together with this teammate and talk about what we saw God do after we had that conversation. By doing this I hope to see God’s hand moving and working today just like He was in the old testament. I want to be reminded that He is the same God, that He still loves us, still wants to know us intimately, and still wants to show Himself strong in out lives.

Whoever Finds His Life...

Matthew 10:39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. As we prepare to leave Cambodia I was struck by this verse. When I got here I was expecting to run hard and to do everything I could in my own strength to bring glory to a God I barely knew. This season has been the complete opposite. I have had to sit still and let God walk before me. I have literally had to die to myself and my ideas, everything I thought this time would be. Now Faith

Now Faith is the assurance of things hoped for the conviction of things not seen Hebrews 11:1 ESV “Now faith”, that in itself is such a strong statement. It means that faith is now . That there is no waiting for faith. The verse goes on to say how faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. In the New King James Version the word “assurance” is replaced by the word “substance”, read this way faith is not only an idea, it is also tangible to us right now. It is so important to understand that faith was never meant to be blind, it is meant to be very clearly known. God wants me to know that my faith is not in vain. I am assured my hopes will come true if they are in accordance with the word of God.
