Give
Luke 6:38
“Give, and it will
be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and
running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure
you use it will be measured back to you.”
I have seen this
verse many times over in my lifetime but I’ve never seen truly what
it meant. Since being here in Cambodia I have seen how everything I
give out; my time, money, and attention, not to mention the
sacrifices I’ve made to be here instead of with my family, has been
returned to me over and above all I could ask or think. I see how God
has helped me to use my time wisely and as a result I seem to have
more of it. I have seen how God has blessed me financially because I
choose to give to my church, or to bless my friends with a cup of
coffee. I have also noticed that when I gave all my attention to the
children in front of me God blessed me with the attentions of my
teammates when I needed help. I see that I am not without a family in
fact God has blessed me with six other women who absolutely love God
and love me as they would love their own sister. Every time I turn
around I see blessing after blessing and I can say there is nothing I
did to deserve any of it. All I did was obey, and even that with help
from my Father in Heaven. It is my prayer that as I continue to live
here God would help me to keep
walking in His word, and His grace, and His freedom.
Application
I’ve
already so many things come from my obedience but it can still be
hard to keep giving of everything I have. So I will pray each day
that God will fill me up so I pour out again and again to His
children both young and old.
